Whispering Pines is the first cremation garden in the tri-state region. Reflecting the serenity of neighboring Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery, Whispering Pines' landscape includes a pond with gentle fountain spray in its center, mature trees, a small stream and lovely gardens. Nature abounds and asserts its calm.
Cremation, like traditional in-ground burial, is simply a choice which most often reflects the preferences of the deceased and family. For some people, cremation is a family burial tradition, while for others it is a way in which they ensure their return to earth.
One of many reasons an increasing number of people are selecting cremation is because of the variety of options it offers.
Portions of one's cremated remains may be placed in an urn or keepsake jewelry or even scattered at a favorite site. Yet another portion may be place in a setting where loved ones may visit. Whether a person chooses to have all or some of their cremated remains scattered or placed anywhere in the world, he or she may be formally remembered at Whispering Pines.
The Garden's walkways wind past more than 14 different areas designed for placement of cremated remains. A variety of strong tall trees throughout the garden have distinctive memorial markers encircling their bases. Other places include granite niches, an ossuary or memorial wall, and even a memorial stones designated to hold the cremated remains of two people.
